CONTENT WARNINGS: In this poem, J. addresses biphobia and arophobia (discrimination/prejudice/hate against aromantic people), also within the queer community.
Bisexual;
I want to fuck everyone.
Aromantic;
I’m cursed to know no love.
Personification of greed and selfishness
to the world I didn’t choose
but also to the one I did.
The pain
when I realised that
your typical white homosexual at the club
is no better than aunt Susan
when it comes to people like me.
I am grateful for my queer siblings
who lived before me
and made us all some space to breathe.
But I also know
that for myself
and for those after me
I need to fight just as hard.
Bisexual;
I see beauty in so many different forms.
Aromantic;
I’m surrounded by so much love for those close to me.
Personification of strength and kindness
even if the world doesn’t see it yet
even if I still need to convince myself too.
